Here in my tiny studio, I use the slab method to hand-build a variety of unique ceramic items for gifts, home decor, and garden surprises. My "sugar pigs" (spoon or pour your sugar), spooners (vertical spoon rests), berry bowls, butter dishes, and other items will be conversation pieces for guests who drop by for a cup'a. And don't forget to enjoy your morning hot beverage in one of my mugs or have a bit of wine with a wine sipper that fits your hand (generally!). So welcome to my store. By the way, Cheeky is my horse. He doesn't make too many items--he has two left hooves.
One day, a very good friend and I were out riding our horses, My horse was being a bit strong-willed: he didn't want to go where I wanted him to go, didn't want to do what I wanted him to do. My friend, a Brit, said he was being "cheeky," meaning he had a mind of his own. He settled down over the next year, and many years later (he's currently 22 or so), he still has a mind of his own, but now he listens to me.
I also have a mind of my own. So do the clays and glazes I work with. Just a bit unpredictable. I'm good with that.
By the way, Cheeky always keep me safe.
At Cheeky Things Ceramics, we believe in sustainability and ethical production practices. I strive to minimize my environmental impact and support local communities. I also believe in creating beautiful, functional pieces that bring joy to my customers.
